One of the most common misconceptions about Winton Homes & Cottages is that Winton is a modular home company. Modular homes fall under the prefab umbrella because they too are built in a factory setting but modular homes are prefinished inside and out. Depending on the size, modular homes are built and finished in separate sections that join together to form a whole on-site. They are also referred to as ready-to-move (RTM) homes, which Winton is not.
Winton Homes & Cottage's approach is panelized or factory-framed prefabricated home packages. Once the components are built in our climate-controlled factory, we lay them flat and stack them in construction order on a flatbed truck.
Winton homes are panelized, meaning we manufacture the components consisting of floor systems, walls, and trusses, built in our climate-controlled factory with total precision and state-of-the-art technology.
Instead of pre-built, assembled sections arriving on your site, your components arrive with full structural integrity because they haven’t had to endure transportation the same way as modular. Customers have more control over how the home goes together and how the home is finished on the inside and outside. These factors often contribute to appreciating resale value.
It's a lot like conventional home construction but much faster as all the parts arrive to you for the home package to be stood and assembled.
All the prebuilt components, along with zone-rated windows, doors, and exterior finishing materials are included to maximize build efficiency to reach the weather-tight lock-up stage for inspection. Relying on Winton's supply chain is also another great way for you to save on the construction of your home - we pass our savings on to you.
