Deciding Which House Design is Right For You

There are a lot of choices when deciding which home plan is right for you and your family and honestly, it can become overwhelming. Some things to consider are size, accessibility, how long you plan to live in your home, will your family be growing or downsizing in the near future, do you like to entertain.

Shingles Versus Metal Roofing

We are often asked by customers whether it is better to have a shingled roof or a metal roof on their house.

Winton supplies both a shingled roof option and two metal roof options. The shingled roof, an architectural shingle, uses metal valleys, continuous ridge ventilation and an eave guard applied along heated eaves and is a more conventional application for customers.

Choosing the Right Color Scheme for Your Home

This is a very common question many of our customers ask when trying to decide on colours for the exterior of their new home. With the number of colour choices now available for roofing, siding, soffit, fascia and trims, making what you feel is “the right choice” can become quite overwhelming.

While there is no rule of thumb when making colour selections, here are a few things to consider which will help guide your decision-making process:

A Shift in New Home Construction

“Prefabricated” or “Factory Framed” homes have come a long way from the days of a Sears mail-order home or a time when the word “prefabricated” may have elicited thoughts of an inferior structure. Gone is the misconception that prefabricated homes are cheaply made with limited design flexibility and finish options. Today’s prefabricated home is fully customizable with a vast array of finish options to make your home just that, your home. Once constructed, a prefabricated home will perform equal to, and in many cases better than, any high-end conventionally site framed home.

Some Assembly Required

One of the most common misconceptions about Winton Homes is that we are a modular home company. Modular homes fall under the prefab umbrella because they too are built in a factory setting but are prefinished in separate sections that join together to form a whole.

Winton Homes & Cottages approach is panelized or factory framed home packages. Once the components are built in our climate-controlled factory, we lay them flat and stack them in construction order on a flatbed truck.

How Long Does It Take To Build a Prefab Home?

One of our most asked questions has many answers.

Build time depends on the experience and size of the crew you have putting it up. Generally it goes up much quicker than a standard stick framed home. To see a prefabricated home and an identical stick framed home built side by side click HERE

Which Floor System is best for you?

When designing your perfect home, there are so many options to choose from in every section of your house. The only way to make the best decision is to know the important information about each of your possibilities. Winton supplies all floor systems to meet Engineering demands, quality and budget. You have three options for Floor Systems; our standard 2x10 SPF option or an I-Joist or Floor Truss upgrade.
